cosnova carefully checks all products and raw materials for safety, quality and sustainability. Our standards go far beyond the legal requirements.
We have already analyzed 1,606 raw materials regarding these aspects and have derived a strict negative list of raw materials and ingredients. In this way, we can create a holistic improvement of our entire product range. We are convinced that only those who act responsibly can be successful in the long term.
Sustainable Palm Oil
Excessive and uncontrolled cultivation of palm oil plants endangers the ecosystem in the rainforest area. As a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), we support the sustainable cultivation of palm oil in order to preserve the nature in the growing regions. We fully offset the quantities of palm oil, palm kernel oil and their derivatives we use through RSPO credits from independent small farmers.
Since 2020, we have already been fully compensating the quantities we use through RSPO credits from independent smallholder farmers.
Alternatives to microplastic particles
Microplastic particles are tiny plastic particles that enter the oceans via the water cycle and pollute the environment. We are constantly researching natural, biological alternatives for those parts of our products that still contain microplastic particles. Since January 2020, we have been developing our new product innovations completely without microplastic particles.
Since March 2023 our entire product range is completely free of microplastic particles.
Transparency with Mica suppliers
The raw material mica – also known as glimmer – is a natural rock that is often extracted from mines under difficult conditions. We are involved in the cross-industry Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) to achieve rapid and comprehensive improvements for local families and especially children.
Furthermore, we strictly monitor our mica supply chain (Mica Supply Chain Mapping) in order to achieve 100% transparency in our supply chain by 2023. This involves tracing and verifying all stages of the pigments back to the mine
We work exclusively with suppliers who meet our high standards of transparency.
Our goal: by 2023, we will have achieved complete transparency in our mica supply chain.
