Chronicle of sustainability

CHRONICLE OF SUSTAINABILITY

The well-being of people and animals has always been close to our hearts.

We are proud that ever since our company was founded in 2001, we have never conducted any testing on animals. We have been pursuing a comprehensive sustainability strategy for several years now and know that we need staying power to reach our ambitious goals – but we have also already managed to achieve many improvements.

2020

  • Since January, we have been developing all of our new products completely without microplastic particles and volatile silicones (D5, D6)
  • We achieve 99 percent transparency in the Mica supply chain.
  • Since April, we have also been revising all of our existing products to make them microplastic particle-free and free of volatile silicones.
  • With the Glam & Doll collection, we are launching the first products on the market with packaging that contains a high proportion of recycled material (so-called recyclates).
  • Our negative list for transport packaging becomes mandatory for suppliers.
  • We set up two collection centers for plastic waste in India with the non-profit organization Plastics For Change.

  • In July, we publish our first Sustainability Report for the business year 2018 in accordance with the DNK stipulations.
  • We calculate our total CO2 footprint for the first time for the business year 2018.
  • Ecovadis awards us the Gold Medal for above-average results on the way to more sustainability.
  • We launch our first Clean ID collection by CATRICE in July.
  • The internal Sustainability Board meets for the first time at the end of the year

2019

2018

  • We once again carry out a major survey on our sustainability topics, this time with a focus on our consumers.
  • We become a member of the Responsible Beauty Initiative (RBI).
  • We join the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
  • We offset 100 percent of the palm oil, palm kernel oil and their derivatives that we use, thus promoting sustainable cultivation.
  • We participate in the environmental and packaging initiative Rezyklat-Forum.

  • Each of our suppliers must undergo an evaluation by the sustainability rating agency EcoVadis on a regular basis.
  • We become a member of the Responsible Mica Initative (RMI).
  • We commit to not using any microplastic particles in so-called "rinse-off" products, i.e. products that are washed off.

2017

2016

  • We develop our four “Pillars of Responsibility”
  • The harmlessness of our products
  • Zero waste
  • Working conditions at our business partners
  • Social initiatives

  • We develop our tailor-made sustainability strategy
  • Three questions guide us here:
    1. What are the large economical, ecological and social challenges in the world of today?
    2. What can we contribute to?
    3. How do the associated developments influence cosnova?
  • We conduct a large stakeholder survey and gather the opinions of our employees, consumers and business partners, ask associations, authorities and bloggers about their expectations and objectives.

2015

2013

  • Our "CR" department is established.
  • Initially, we focus on social initiatives such as donations, corporate volunteering and the distribution of non-monetary donations to charitable organizations
