As a global family business – strongly influenced by our founding couple Christina Oster-Daum and Javier González – we are one of the largest cosmetics companies in Germany.

Since our founding 20 years ago, we have grown rapidly: around 870 talented people at various locations around the world are working on our success story. With their dedicated commitment and diverse talents, we work together to make the world a little bit more beautiful. With 2023 net sales of 817 million euros (cosnova Group), the family-owned company remains an accelerator of growth in the color cosmetics market, aspiring to join the top 5 global industry leaders.

essence celebrating 20 years

From a home dining room to worldwide success - the cosmetics company cosnova and its beauty brand essence have been shaking up the German and international beauty market for two decades. Now they are celebrating their 20th birthday.

cosnova Beauty achieves record results

  • The family-run company is enjoying enormous growth worldwide, significantly exceeding the market trend and closes the 2021 fiscal year as a high performer in its industry.
  • With the establishment of its sister company NextGenBeauty GmbH, cosnova creates new growth drivers in the sense of an incubator and develops innovative, sustainable business concepts.

Launch of the brand LA MANUFACTURE

Launch of the LA MANUFACTURE brand (managed by NextGen Beauty GmbH since 2021).

cosnova further expands the Management Board

Yvonne Wutzler joins as Chief Marketing Officer and Gesine Hild as Chief Legal Officer. Approximately 650 people around the world are employed by cosnova.

In the fiscal year 2017

cosnova Group achieves a net sales turnover of 424.9 million Euros and surpasses the previous year’s figures by 15 % with this result. cosnova sells 365.5 million products worldwide. Establishment of cosnova Italia in Milan, Italy. Establishment of cosnova Brazil in São Paulo, Brazil.

Launch of the third cosmetic brand L.O.V

Run by NextGen Beauty GmbH since 2021. The company employs around 420 people. The achieved 33.6 % in volume (source: Nielsen 2016) represent the highest market share on the German cosmetics market.

Hilko Prahl

is appointed as the fourth Managing Director of cosnova GmbH.

essence is the best-selling brand

in the decorative cosmetics segment in Europe.

2012

cosnova breaks the 200 million Euro sales threshold

for the first time and achieves a net sales turnover of 212.1 million Euros with 215.1 million sold products worldwide. The company taps into ten new sales markets. Mathias Delor is appointed as the third Managing Director of cosnova GmbH.

cosnova Inc.

The first subsidiary is established out of Sulzbach: the cosnova Inc. in New York, USA.
