Bonn/Berlin/Sulzbach, 25.08.2026 – With “Led by Women,” Welthungerhilfe is launching a network of female executives and companies that work together to empower female entrepreneurs in the Global South. At the heart of the network is the “Led by Women” Women’s Fund, which bundles the contributions of its members and provides targeted support to female entrepreneurs around the world. In this way, “Led by Women” combines corporate responsibility with international development cooperation.

One of the most effective levers for sustainable development is to empower women economically. According to the World Bank, the global economy could grow by around 20 per cent if women were able to realise their full economic potential. This is where “Led by Women” comes in. The donation fund supports female entrepreneurs in the Global South, helping them to establish and develop their businesses, while also pooling investments across different countries and programmes. Members of the network gain insights into the projects that receive funding and their impact, as well as access to curated networking opportunities.
“By running their own businesses, women can create new livelihoods and income opportunities, ensuring that families can eat a sufficient and healthy diet. Economic participation strengthens entire communities. This concept is particularly important to us. That’s why “Led by Women” does not merely invest in individual support programmes but is building a long-term network of committed women and businesses instead. This fosters connections, trust and new opportunities for female entrepreneurs,” explains Susanne Fotiadis, Executive Director of Welthungerhilfe.
cosnova, the cosmetics company behind the brands essence and Catrice, is one of the first corporate partners of “Led by Women”. “We encourage people to feel comfortable in their own skin, and this motto is just as much a part of our company as our products. Our family-run business was founded by a woman almost 25 years ago, and we know just how much can be achieved when women bring their ideas to life. Supporting them in the long term is part of our responsibility,” says Astrid Haury, Senior Manager of Corporate Responsibility at cosnova.
“Led by Women” aims to grow into a strong network of female managers and companies that jointly invest in the potential of female entrepreneurs in the Global South.
